Good location in central London. Seating both inside and outside, in a courtyard away from the traffic. Food is a pan-European self-service buffet. This leads to a plate that's a weird mix of stuff. Of course, others may make more disciplined choices than I did. Hot food is rather tepid. Plates are costed by weight. A board outside says a typical plate costs just under a tenner. I took what I consider a moderate amount for a main meal and it came in at £15.00. So, nice location, certainly vegetarian, but food decidedly mixed in more ways than one.
Its very location makes this a busy place with clientele from all walks of life and countries. Considering all this the staff are to be commended for being so helpful and friendly. Coffee was quite acceptable, certainly not outstanding but easy to drink. Buffet style food gave a good range and all that was tried was tasty. Excellent way of charging for food by weight, works well.

The only this about this place is that they don't indicate which meal is gluten free, which makes it a bit confusing. If you are gluten free this place maybe not the best option. Otherwise you get a really tasty vegetarian meals.
I stopped here for dinner this evening the food was ok as was the service the weigh your plate idea is ok but not if you eat like a horse which could make the meal very expensive also the pay per helping is a bit bothersome
This is a Veg only restaurant, but thats not a bad thing. The food is always freshly prepared and the ingredients are amazing. It is a buffet and is a fusion between modern dishes with a dash of indian. Its self service and the ques can get long during peak times so dont dally with your order.

I found Tibits by accident - just walking to find somewhere to eat on a Sunday night and first night in Basel, nothing seemed to jump out, the menus were expensive and heavy on main courses. It was total coincidence to notice lots of people going into a side street, into a casual but nicely laid out shared space, and then to see the modus operandi - a buffet, help yourself, then pay by weight. Seemed a good way to choose what I wanted and not too much, so I joined the line. Gradually it dawned that the food was vegetarian ( and often vegan), neither of which I required, but certainly enjoy. Moreover the food looked ( and turned out to be) REALLY excellent. It was delicious, and comparatively affordable in Swiss terms. There were heaps of salads and interesting vegetables, a variety of hot dishes, and finger food such as jalapeño and goats cheese croquettes. It filled that need, that one sometimes has when travelling, of finding just the right thing rather than any meal will do.
I ate there twice more and had the same response. I didn't eat there for breakfast, though you can, but it was a good memory I will take away from Basel. And I believe the concept/ experience is spreading, even to London. I hope it retains its freshness and quality, rather than becoming a 'chain', because I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the variety of people eating there ( I guarantee they were not all committed vegetarians)!

Excellent restaurant, true to its Swiss heritage! Although it does cater primarily to vegetarians, the big palette of salads/warm dishes/dessert was also fun to try and delicious for our carnivore friends. We could only fit so many tastes on the plate, but that did not stop us from swapping to taste from eachother's plates. It did seem to be quite busy so you might be better off booking a bit in advance at the weekend. A great find, will definitely return!

For two of us it cost about £60 for food which is essentially prepared in advance and kept warm in bain maries. Some of it was very good, some of it was very unremarkable and more in line with the quality you would expect from a work place canteen.
I appreciate the location is prime and rent must be huge but felt like for the price (charged by weight of your food) the offering could be a bit stronger. Great for veggies to have so much choice though.

Thanks to my friend who is a local in Basel, we discovered this place and loved it. The concept is awesome, the food is great and the place lovely. I was surprised that a vegetarian place was such a crowd puller in Basel. Definitely recommended. Thank you Abhilasha for taking us here :)
I love meat, I hate mushrooms. I was very reserved when we decided to go for a dinner to a totally vegetarian place. Boy I was wrong. Food setup is a buffet type, including all imaginative cold and hot dishes. You pay for the weight of the platter. Food was absolutely delicious. I never felt like I was missing meat and what is even stranger, loved the mushroom gravy. Big buzz happening also on Sunday evening past 21. Recommended!

Dined there with a vegetarian friend. I am not vegetarian but was very surprised at the variety of dishes. I even tried tofu for the first time and enjoyed it. Good atmosphere - English spoken Thought it was very reasonably priced compared with other meals we had in Basle. Came home and enquirer about their restaurants in the UK. There's one and soon to be two in London. Also bought their cookbook!
