You don't have to be a vegetarian tree hugger to eat here
Well my brother in law is a vegan tree hugging cyclist from oop north and he introduced me to Tibits. I've eaten here three times now, and I can recommend it as an example of how to put on a decent hot/cold buffet of varied, interesting and tasty vegetarian dishes. Everything from cauliflower curry to sticky toffee pudding. The ambience is pleasant and it always feels like you have "discovered" the restaurant as it's tucked away down Heddon St off Regents Street. Easy to walk past if you're no looking out for it. Paying for the weight of your plate is a bit of fun too. Anything to moan about? not very much really. For a vegy restaurant it's a bit pricey but it is in central central London and it's a notch up from most vegy student run cafes that I've visited.

High quality menus available to take away which lists everything you need to know, most importantly what is vegan! They also had free match boxes to take away.
They were playing light music, there was a nice ambience.
Food was very well labelled in both Swiss German and English.
There was lots of choice.
They also sell books, water bottles, bags, as well as supplying free tap water.
They mostly sell buffet items by weight however I bought mine from the counter; a seitan kebab sandwich and a lemon cake to take away. 11.60 francs (£8.74). The sandwich was absolutely delicious! The first time I’ve tried seitan, I can see why it’s so popular. Would definitely have it again! The cake was edible, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Perhaps the vegetarian desserts are better there was much more choice compared to the one vegan cake.
I am usually not a Tibits visitor, as there standards are a bit lower then Hitl when it comes to the cleaningness of there place. However, This London location seems.to have it all. I found it extremely spacious and the food thats a buffet is really good priced for London and also the drinks are very good and alternative. The Tibits is central london located, and the service is really good. People have been found friendly and they also clean up after you. I loved the place because of the good food, ita great location (you can sit even outside on a big terrace) and the idea.
See the resemblance? The picture on the left is actual footage of the blob which gradually took over our fondue pan on Wednesday this week. We complained to the waiter (who we later found out was the manager!) halfway through that it was taking over but he seemed powerless to save us and simply walked away. At the end we attacked it with knives - it was the only way. A tough beast, I certainly wouldn't call it tasty! At the end the manager was powerless to offer us any more than 10% off our bill - apparently the blob was also capable of mind control! You have been warned!!

Having eaten there for more than just once I can probably give you this Honest opinion.
Depending on Day and Time it can get pretty crowded..especially on peaktimes
11-2pm / 5-9pm.. But there is plenty of space and a nice ambiente!
The buffet is huge and differs from day to day, which is nice especially as a regular. If you enjoy Vegetarian/Vegan you will find savoury and good food. Some dishes can be pretty heavy / oily leaving you with a postmeal tiredness... unusual for Veggies.
Its weight-based-pricing so be wise not to exaggerate on your first try or you will have the most expensive salad of your Life - prices for meatless meals are a bit high.
I visited with my vegan daughter. The food was interesting and there was a lot of variety especially for her which was great. However, although I liked the buffet style, the queue to have the food weighed (it was Friday eve) was rather off putting especially if you have hot food as it was cold by the time you sat down. Also it seemed over priced to me. We had barely full plates but still cost £11-12 each. However this was central London! The tables are packed in so moving around with food and drinks in hand was not easy. I enjoyed the food but I feel some rethinking of the system might improve it.
They have a self-service buffet filled with a large variety of delicious salads, sauces, warm dishes, fruits, olives, desserts etc. The dishes change every now and again depending on the season. You can load up you plate with whatever you like (including gluten-free bread) and it gets weighed at the counter. Each dish is described and all allergens are noted (gluten, lactose, egg,...). The have a large selection of coffees, teas, and fresh fruit juices as well as alcoholic drinks but there is free tap water available as well. They also serve brunch (which I can also recommend!). The atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed, and the place is tidy and professionally run.

This place was absolutely fab - a vast choice of tasty vegan and vegetarian dishes in a comfortable setting..and plenty of other diners enjoying themselves, always a good sign. Assemble your buffet selection on a plate, weigh the whole lot and pay by the 100g. It was lovely, really liked the whole experience and will be back.
As a travelling vegan discovering Tibits in Switzerland was a welcome gift. Fabulous variety of delicious healthy food, prepared the way you would at home mindful to getting a scrumptious nutritional feast. A weigh as you eat concept offered in full buffet mode which may be hard for overeaters. You can book for 4 or more, singles & couples are always fitted in. It gets busy at meal times but flows well so no one is left waiting. The Basel Tibits is located in the old part of town in an architecturally interesting building & tastefully & trenderly decorated. Full bar service is available as well as good juices. We just wish they’d open a Tibits in Sydney where it would be a smash.

If you are vegan or vegetarian...you gotta eat here! There is a huge selection. You simply help yourself and the cost of your meal is based on its overall weight. This is definitely different to anything we had ever experienced before....but worth it. The meal was fantastic.

I absolutely loved this place .... it’s an amazing restaurant and I honestly can’t fail it Went here for my wife’s birthday, she is a vegetarian while I’m a meat eater so was a bit sceptical at first, until I walked it
It’s a vegetarian buffet ... the food is displayed wonderfully and all different colours and smells
You fill up your plate and pay by weight which I’ve very rarely seen before

If you are a Londoner or a tourist strolling around central London and fancy vegetarian food, this is a must-go place. Rich, yummy vegetarian bouffet in a nice location: great atmosphere with huge windows in a lovely mew just out Regent Street. Good for couples, families and friends. £20/£22 for a full plate of delicious options and a glass of wine. I went 5 times and they change menu every season.

Some people love this place, but I find that the process of loading up my plate and paying before sitting down to eat to be awkward. Granted, I am not a vegetarian so the choice of food was not of particular importance to me, but I did find the selection to be limited in my opinion.
What a delightful experience! Vegetarian food at its exciting best. Over the time span of 5 days we went there for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and were pleasantly surprised, every time, with the variety of the selection. You pay per gram for the food you select, therefore there is no waste, or very little. Makes absolute sense and reduces our global footprint.
The food is good. Tibits seams to be the only place in Basel where you can get some decant vegan food. So you don’t really have a choice as a vegan. Also for vegetarians Basel offers almost nothing. They seam to know that and therefore treat there customers really unfriendly. Almost every single time I go there they are unfriendly.
Excellent food, excellent cocktails. Came here for dinner after a very busy day and it was ideal - relaxed atmosphere. In my experience the pricing was reasonable, especially for London. Quality of food was very high.
We stumbled onto this place whilst looking for Burger King. Nevermind we didn't get to BK, as we came across this vegetarian place (buffet style) with a cosy ambience. There's enough variety to get something for kids who don't like veges normally, just grab a plate and pile up on what you want. Bring them to the counter to weigh (I think it was CHF 4.2/100gm), order some organic drinks and sit back in a cool place. There's a kids friendly corner with books and some toys to keep them occupied. Free wifi but you'll need to ask for a code.
Hier gibt es wirklich gutes vegetarisches Essen. Nur das Buffet ist viel zu klein und oval. Niemand weiss genau wo man/frau anstehen soll. So drängeln ständig Leute in die Kolonne oder laufen entgegen der Richtung und das Buffet wird zu einer richtigen Geduldsprobe. Danach steht man an der Kasse an, wo man von einer absolut emotionslosen Person abgefertigt wird. Einen Tisch kann man auch nicht reservieren. Wenn das Essen nicht so gut wäre, würde ich nicht mehr hier hin gehen.
