Almost like a fairy-tale
How tibits turned three brothers into restaurateurs.

Once upon a time vegetarians had no choice. All the restaurants served meat and skimped on greens. Three brave brothers from Switzerland decided to change this sorry vegetarian fate - Christian, Daniel and Reto Frei. They envisioned this: A delicious and fresh vegetarian buffet, as speedy as a fast food joint and as cosy as corner café with many locations in the land of their home, Switzerland.

Their idea was golden and so they did not only get regocnition for it at prestigious competitions but also inspired the minds (and bellies) of the people. And so the three brothers turned their vision into reality and became restaurateurs.

Their patrons in the beginning were the absolute doyens of vegetarian cuisine: Rolf and Marielle Hiltl, owner of the legendary and oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world, Haus Hiltl in Zurich. They generously shared their experience with the Frei brothers and helped to open the first tibits restaurant in 2000.

Green Cuisine
Today, over 10 Years and eight tibits restaurants in Switzerland and London later, the two family owned vegetarian empires still share close ties. They are united by the desire to explore and expand vegetarian and vegan cooking and create healthy and tasty meals for every opportunity. The collaboration culminates in autumn 2014 with the release of a purely vegan cookbook „Vegan Love Story“, which features recipes by tibits and Hiltl.
